  • Decided to perform a surgical operation on my blog...the theme was too outdated.

    Received the reading materials for my first theology course at Moore College.

    Please pray for my dedication to His words.

  • Falling ill...

    Its the first time I've been unwell for 2 years...

    Paid a visit to a GP on Thursday last week. She kicked me out in 5 minutes and gave me an Amoxil 500mg (as expected) for the treatment of bacterial infection...

    Really should thank God for the speedy recovery and the much-needed super long weekend for a mental refreshment :)

    And yes, I got the "less expensive" generic brand from Sigma... (sorry GSK)

  • How many pharmaceutical executives does it take to screw in a light bulb?

    (Source: Prescription Access Litigation)
    Seven:

    • One to screw in the light bulb;
    • One to file a patent for “A method for insertion of a light-emitting glass fixture into a power source by rotational motion”;
    • One to create an ad encouraging consumers to “Ask your electrician if SuperBright XR is right for you”;
    • One to sue the manufacturers of cheaper, longer-lasting, but equally bright, compact fluorescent light bulbs;
    • One to launch an awareness campaign for Chronic Darkness Syndrome;
    • One to testify before Congress against government negotiation on the price of light bulbs; and
    • One to lobby against the importation of cheaper Canadian light bulbs.
    Hahaha...I love this post so much! A bit of (negative) humour for my industry!

  • Stress

    James: I'm alrite. Thx for caring :)
    __________________________________________________

    The last few weeks has been extremely stressful for me. Working for literally 60 hrs per week incl. weekends just to get the slides done...

    The slides were presented on Thursday and Friday to my Brand Managers (BM), yet I cannot see how my efforts were converted into valuable knowledge for them...

    • The team project was not well-led, well-planned and well-executed...
    • They did not realize the urgency of the Monday presentation until the very last minute...
    • Tight with schedule, they fell back to their comfort zone: their own "knowledge & experience", rather than going through all the research that I've done for them...and expect that I can come up with the data "somehow" to support their claim...by tomorrow
    • They have no eagerness to deliver the best outcome: they just want to "get it done asap"

    They do not understand how much time and effort is required to analyze the data and plot a single chart. As if the data is already nicely presented in the spreadsheet and all I need to do is to press the "chart" button...

    The presentation is on Monday (i.e. tomorrow), and even though they kept saying that "its alright", I know its not...and guess who will take the blame tomorrow when the directors and marketing managers ask where the supporting data is...

    yeah it will be me...

  • Coffee & Cups

    A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old University of Notre Dame lecturer. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

    Offering his guests coffee, the lecturer went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, some plain looking and some expensive and exquisite, telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.

    When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the lecturer said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the better cups and are eyeing each other's cups."

    "Now, if Life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn't change."

    "Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it."
